  • Daily Manna from the Net for Thursday, July 24, 2008 [Matthew 7:7-11]
'Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 'For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. 'Or what man is there among you who, when his son asks for a loaf, will give him a stone? 'Or if he asks for a fish, he will not give him a snake, will he? 'If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him! Matthew 7:7-11 NASB

An Uncle's Testimony
Written by Ashley and her Uncle Mike
Wednesday, 09 January 2008

The testimony that you are about to read is awesome! It is very inspiring, thought provoking, and profound.

Ashley's Post on SWPiedmont Mommies:

My Uncle Mike died from complications of gastric cancer on Jan. 3, a bit less than a year after his diagnosis. He stayed physically active until the last couple months of his life...and mentally active until the last week or so, when he got snowed under by the pain meds.
I always felt very close to my uncle because I'm so much like him, especially in my love of science and philosophy. Also like him, I've had many crises of faith that either directly or indirectly relate back to that love of science and philosophy.
He was one of the most intelligent men I've ever personally known. Fiercely independent and with a sparkle in his eyes that made it clear that he loved life and was going to get the most out of it he could. And he did - even in that last year when he knew he was dying. At the same time, he planned his own funeral and faced death with amazing humor and candor.
His crisis of faith lasted all of his adult life. He wanted to believe in God, but couldn't overcome his doubts, so he labeled himself agnostic.
The following is his testimony, written shortly before that pain med dosage got bumped up at his request. It's extremely long and rambling, as was always his nature. I don't know if there's a limit to how long a post can be. If there is, I'll break it up. I don't expect y'all to read the whole thing, but I feel like sharing:
